Overview

Apple and Google built Exposure Notification so public health authorities could alert people who had been near someone who tested positive for COVID-19, using Bluetooth and rotating identifiers instead of location.

The system was turned off on September 18, 2023. Its documentation and specifications remain online as a reference for privacy-preserving design.
